A young Maldivian man was reportedly killed in battle in Syria on April 21.
The report was published by Bilad Al Sham Media which reports news on Maldivians involved in the civil war in Syria.
Bilad Al Sham Media only identified the man by his alias “Abu Yunus al Maldifi”. The real name of the man is uncertain.
The group also released a photo of the Maldivian man which it claims died in battle in the frontlines of battle in Taibat al Imam, Northern Hama on Friday, April 21.
Partaking in foreign workers or traveling to foreign countries to partake in a foreign war without authorization of the Maldivian government is a criminal offense.
National Counter-Terrorism Center (NCTC) reports 49 Maldivian men were confirmed to have taken part or are taking part in foreign wars.
Unofficial reports bring the number close to 100.
