4-year-old dies in Finey after ingesting fire lily

A four-year-old boy from H. Dh. Finey has died due to poisoning after ingesting the flower gloriosa superba (more commonly known as fire lily).

A Finey councilman identified the four-year-old to “Sun” as Zayan Ahmed Zaid from Asrafeege.

Zayan ingested the fire lily last Sunday.

He was taken to Finey Health Center and transported to Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital on Sunday night due to the seriousness of his condition.

The Finey councilman who spoke to “Sun” that Zayan died on the plane as he was being transported to Male’ City for treatment on Monday.
