Suspects arrested after gang attack includes minor

Four suspects arrested after the gang attack which took place in Male’ City last Monday night includes a minor, reports the police.

Police media official reports the four suspects were arrested on Monday night in a special operation after the gang attack which took place at approximately 10 pm.

The four suspects are currently under police custody and will be taken to Criminal Court for remand hearings this Tuesday.

A man injured in the incident was treated at ADK Hospital.

Managing Director of ADK Hospital, Ahmed Affaal said a patient injured in the incident was operated on at the hospital and released from hospital sometime Monday night.

The hospital has not released details regarding the nature or extent of the patient’s injuries.

There were five homicides in the country last year; which include the murder of Hawwa Zuha, the fatal stabbings of two 14-year-old boys in a series of gang-related violence – Ahmed Irushan Hilmy and Fathir Mohamed Ali, the fatal stabbing of 4-year-old Fathimath Shaiha Fayaz and murder of Addu City businessman Ali Abdulla.

The rate is low compared to 2015 during which eight people were killed.
