Police: Raudha’s neck shows signs of strangulation

Maldivian model and medical student, Raudha Athif’s neck shows signs of strangulation, reports Bangladesh police.

20-year-old Raudha was a student at Islami Bank Medical College in Rajshahi, Bangladesh.

She was found dead in her dormitory on Wednesday morning.

Dhaka Tribune reports Raudha was found dead by a group of her friends.

The group of friends had been concerned when Raudha failed come out of her room on Wednesday morning and saw her body hanging when they looked into her room from the window.

Commissioner of Rajshani Metropolitan Police, Shafeequl Islam reported to Dhaka Tribune that though Raudha’s death looked to be a suicide, the police had also found strangle marks on her neck.

“As Raudha is a foreign citizen, this case has been prioritized,” said the commissioner.

Dr. Laila Akhthar – in charge of the dormitory Raudha lived in – said Raudha went to her room on Tuesday night after having dinner.

Raudha’s family traveled to Bangladesh on Wednesday night.

Rajshahi Metropolitan reported an autopsy would be carried out once the family arrived in Bangladesh.

Raudha rose to fame as a model from the photo by Shifaz Shammoon (Sotti) titled “Maldivian Girl with Aqua Blue Eyes”.

She later featured in the cover of October, 2016 issue of Vogue India.
