TVM stops playing internationally-produced cartoons

Public Service Media’s television channel, Television Maldives (TVM) has stopped playing internationally-produced cartoons on its channel.

The decision to stop playing internationally-produced cartoons was announced by Deputy Managing Director of PSM, Mohamed Ikram, during the live telecast by TVM last Wednesday to mark the channel’s 39th anniversary.

Ikram said that internationally-produced cartoons will hereafter be replaced by children’s shows which properly reflect Maldivian and Islamic values.

He said the shows will be more family-oriented and will encourage good ethics and behavioral traits.

Ikram said the channel was now working on locally-produced cartoons, and invited parties interested in producing children’s shows which promote Islamic values and good behavioral traits to reach out to PSM.
