President Maumoon dismissed from PPM

Disciplinary Committee of PPM has decided to dismiss the President of party, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom from PPM.

A report released by the committee said that the decision was made after giving Maumoon the opportunity to respond but he did not do so.

Maumoon lost the membership of the party in reference to a resolution passed at an emergency council meeting with President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom was the chair. In reference, the Disciplinary Committee made seven accusations against Maumoon.

They are:

Joining MDP and promoting the opposition

Openly working against PPM

Openly criticizing government projects and creating animosity towards the government

Create allegiance without PPM’s consent

Using the PPM logo and flag without the party’s consent

Challenging the verdict to handover PPM to President Yameen

Former President of the Maldives, Maumoon lost the membership of the party he formed in 27 October 2011 tonight at the Disciplinary Committee meeting which consists of five members.

But Maumoon has responded to the dismissal said that the “Dharubaaru Faction” (under President Yameen) has no authority to dismiss members.
