Arrangements will be made soon so civil servants can obtain soft loan facilities for study loans from Maldives Islamic Bank, reports President of Civil Service Commission, Dr. Ali Shameem.
Dr. Shameem made the announcement during his speech as chief guest of function held this Sunday morning to release annual report of Ministry of Islamic Affairs for the year 2016.
Shameem said Civil Service Commission was working hard to ensure all civil servants had the necessary training and experience to ensure they performed their services to the highest standard. He said soft loan facilities for study loans was part of the effort.
“We will hold negotiations with the Islamic Bank and introduce study loans with soft loan facilities for civil servants during the upcoming week,” said Shameem.
He said the loans will need no collateral, and will be available to any civil servant who wishes to obtain higher education.
Shameem said the commission will provide opportunities for education and experience to all civil servants working in the atolls and Male’ City with no differentiation.
He also said in his speech that the commission was holding discussions with Ministry of Finance and Treasury, President’s Office and other relevant agencies to upgrade the salary and allowance structure of civil servants.
Shameem said he was hopeful for a favorable solution to the problem, and for funds from the Zakat Fund for training of civil servants.
In his speech, Shameem advised public offices to increase its management efficiency.
He also noted that Ministry of Islamic Affairs employed the third highest number of civil servants by a government ministry, and asked that it treat its employees with consideration.
