Journalist threatened with lawsuit following question

Leader of the PPM Parliamentary Group, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has threatened to file a lawsuit against a journalist following a question asked at the PPM/MDA press conference today.

The threat was made following a question asked at the Q&A part of the press conference today by the Raajje TV journalist, Azmoon Ahmed Didi.

He asked the MPs in attendance what the truth of the suspicions were that a number of MPs are suspected to have received uninhabited islands to develop resorts in the MMPRC corruption scandal.

Once the Raajje TV journalist began asking his question, a number of MPs present raised their voice against it and MP Nihan asked the MPs to remain calm.

And when the journalist completed his question, Nihan responded by saying that the journalist need to verify information before asking questions and that it is known with guarantee that no MP that does not have a business have an uninhabited island.

Nihan said that if the allegations in the question turn out to be false, their next meeting would be in court under the anti-defamation law.

Following Nihan’s threat, Sun Media asked a question to which in response, Nihan said that the lawsuit would not be filed by him but the PPM MPs.
