Saudi King push back visit due to flu

The Saudi King, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s visit to the Maldives have been postponed due to the rapidly spreading H1N1 in the Maldives.

Speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office this morning, the Foreign Minister, Dr. Mohamed Asim said that the Saudi King’s visit has been delayed due to the H1N1 outbreak in the country.

However, Dr. Asim did not say how far the visit has been pushed back.

The Minister said that once the new date for the visit has been set, it would be released to the public.

As the Saudi King’s visit has been delayed, the Maldivian government has been making a number of preparations to welcome King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, including the decoration of the official jetty area, Izzuddeen Jetty along with tightening security in the area.

Reservation have been made at Reethirah Resort and another Maldivian resort for the Saudi King and his delegation.

The Saudi King’s visit to the Maldives is part of King Salman’s visit to Asia. The Saudi King has so far visited Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan and China.
