Elections Commissions have said that the only ballot box abroad for the upcoming Local Council Elections on 15 April would be in Sri Lanka.
Member of the Elections Commission, Ahmed Akram told Sun Media today that the decision to place a ballot box in Colombo was made because 1000 registered for voting.
The second ballot box abroad was supposed to be placed in Trivandrum, India. However with less than 100 people registering to vote in India, the Elections Commission decided not to place a ballot box.
As 1487 candidates running in the Local Council Election, 1124 of those are representing a political party while the remaining are running as independent candidates.
