Young woman raped in Hulhumale’

Police are investigating the case of a young woman raped in the industrial area of Hulhumale’.

A police media official who spoke to “Sun” this Saturday morning said the crime was reported to authorities at 10:40 pm, last Thursday.

He said the police was investigating the case, but that no arrests have been made yet.

Police have not disclosed any additional information.

“Sun” has been informed the rape victim is a 27-year-old woman who lives in Vilimale’ and was visiting Hulhumale’ when the incident took place.

Anyone convicted of rape faces 15 to 20 years in prison, and 20 to 25 years if the if the assault was perpetuated with the use of a deadly weapon.
