MNDF seeks assistance from Lanka, India to locate missing boat

Maldives National Defense Force has requested for assistance from neighboring Sri Lanka and India in locating the fishing boat with 12 people onboard which went missing last week.

The missing 87-foot boat “Blue Fish 1” is painted blue except for the tophouse which is painted white.

MNDF said that according to the owner of the boat, it was last contacted on February 20 from outside K. Dhiffushi.

Media official for MNDF, Captain Ibrahim Azim reported this Sunday morning that the boat was carrying food enough for 12 days. And that the Coastguard has therefore sought assistance from coastguard maritime rescue coordination centers in Sri Lanka and India.
