Platform is opened; bridge construction viewable using telescopes

The platform built in Raalhugandu area with the view of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge under construction between Male’ and Hulhule’ is now open to public.

The bridge viewing platform was opened to public last Monday, February 20.

The platform is run by Strada – which runs the popular restaurant and catering business Newport.

Managing Director of Strada, Zahid Rameez both the bridge viewing platform and the adjacent children’s indoor play area are now open to public.

The 350-peoppe platform – which has 11 levels – was fabricated in China before it was brought to Maldives and built.

There are two large telescoped at the top of the platform, and animal rides in the play area for children.

Strada reports that the fee for each animal ride is MVR 10 and the fee for use of a telescope in MVR 5.

Token coins are available from the area for both purposes.

The area was developed at the cost of MVR 8 million.

The floor was built using granite and has lights installed providing a magical view during night time.

The project to develop the area and build the platform was handed over to Strada in September, 2016.

The area was developed by Strada at own cost, and it also pays a monthly rent to the government.

Two restaurants; a 300-seat Newport restaurant and an outlet of the Taiwanese franchise “Cha Time” are under construction in the area.

Zahid Rameez reports that both the restaurants will be opened in March.
