Civilian ordered to pay Colonel Nazim over MVR 2 million

Civil Court has ordered a private citizen to pay imprisoned former Minister of Defense, Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim MVR 2,380,000 he is indebted to Nazim for a loan.

The order was issued is conclusion of a civil lawsuit filed on behalf of Nazim.

Hussein Hilmy from M. Vahaarihi in Male’ City confessed to court that he owed the money to Nazim, and vowed to pay back the amount in full by July 28.

Nazim is sentenced to 11 years in prison after he was found guilty of import and possession of an illegal weapon.

He is currently serving his sentence under house arrest.
