4-year-old with coin stuck in throat brought to Male’

A four-year-old boy from H. Dh. Kulhudhuffushi with a coin stuck inside his throat has been transported to Male’ City for its removal.

Kulhudhuffushi Hospital reports that the boy was taken to the hospital with the coin stuck inside his throat on Saturday evening.

It reports that the boy was admitted at the treatment and transported to Male’ City for additional tests and procedure to remove the coin.

“The coin was lodged inside the esophagus. Now the coin is below the throat level,” said the official from Kulhudhuffushi Hospital who spoke to “Sun”.

The official said he was transported to Male’ City as the hospital did not have the capability to perform an endoscopy and surgically remove the coin.

The four-year-old is currently being treated at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
