Ministry of Environment and Energy has contracted two companies to build sanitation systems in five Addi City islands; Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Feydhoo, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo.
Building sanitation systems in Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo and Feydhoo were contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The contract was signed in a function held this Thursday by Minister of Environment and Energy, Toriq Ibrahim and CEO of MTCC, Ibrahim Ziyath.
MTCC has been contracted to complete its MVR 130.65 million project within 15 months. It includes a 38 kilometer sanitation network and a 3,387-ton sewage treatment plant.
Building sanitation systems in Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo was contracted to Sierra Construction Private Limited.
The company has been contracted to complete the MVR 113.9 million project within 12 months.
It includes a 31.2 kilometer sanitation network and an 1,885-ton sewage treatment plant.
Speaking during the function, Minister Toriq said that a basic service such as a sanitation system had not been available to any island in Addu City in the past, but that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration will establish the service in Addu City.
He said that the people of Maldives were reaping the benefits of President Yameen’s various infrastructure development projects across the country, and expressed his gratitude.
