A young man is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital after extensive injuries in a roadside collision in A. A. Thoddoo.
The accident took place at approximately 1:30 pm on Friday, February 10, when a motorcycle being driven with three people onboard lost control and crashed into a coconut palm tree.
The 34-year-old man driving the motorcycle crashed face-first into the tree, resulting in extensive injuries.
The man was unconscious when taken to Thoddoo Health Center, from where he was transported to IGMH in Male’ City at approximately 4:30 pm due to the severity of his condition.
He was transferred to the ICU at approximately 8:30 pm after Emergency Room treatment.
Media official for IGMH reported that the man was breathing through a ventilator, but made no further comment.
“Sun” has been informed that his skull cracked open in the collision, and that he has not regained consciousness since the accident.
An eye witness reported that the man lost a massive amount of blood.
The two other people onboard the motorcycle are being treated at A. A. Rasdhoo Hospital.
Their injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.
