MNDF: Investigation into bullet still ongoing

Maldives National Defense Force has said the authority was not yet done investigating the bullet found lodged in the window frame of a house in K. Hinmafushi on February 1.

The bullet was found lodged into the window frame of the house Lily Night on February 1, during renovation. It’s believed to have hit the window on the night of January 28 as a resident reported hearing a loud bang.

It is the second such reported incident in Hinmafushi over the past three years.

MNDF information officer, Adnan Mohamed said both the incidents were under investigation.

And that MNDF will not be making any official comment regarding an open investigation.

A bullet was found lodged into the door of a house in Hinmafushi approximately 2 years and 7 months before.

Authorities have not made a comment regarding the previous incident, either.

Meanwhile, Hinmafushi Council reports that they had declared the incident was a result of MNDF negligence.

“We said, regarding the previous incident that it was a result of their negligence. That was before. But we don’t yet know enough to make a comment this time,” said President of

Hinmafushi Council, Shan Ibrahim.

Nearby island of Girifushi is used as an MNDF training base. The sound of gunfire is clearly audible from Hinmafushi.
