MMA: There are no counterfeits of new notes

Central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority has refuted rumors of counterfeits of the new “Ran Dhiha Faheh” currency notes circulating in the economy.

Pictures of currency notes claimed to be counterfeits have been shared across social media.

Information officer of MMA, Mansoor Zubair spoke to “Sun” this Saturday morning and refuted the claims.

Mansoor said there have been no counterfeits of the new “Ran Dhiha Faheh” currency notes to date, and that the pictures circulating around social media were old pictures.

“Those were bleached MVR 10 notes created last year. We don’t consider it to be fake notes.

There have not been any counterfeits of “Ran Dhiha Faheh” notes, to date,” said Mansoor.

The new “Ran Dhiha Faheh” currency notes, which includes modern security features, was released by MMA on November 1, 2015.
