Huravalhi Resort officially opens with the largest underwater restaurant

Huravalhi Island Resort developed in the Lhaviyani atoll has been officially opened tonight with the largest underwater restaurant in the world. The resort was opened by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

The resort developed by the government in partnership with the famous business Champaa Mohamed Moosa (Uh’thu) has been opened for tourists since December 2016.

Only 40 minutes away from the capital via seaplane, the resort has 90 rooms which consists of 60 ocean villas and 30 beach villas designed with the view of either the sunset or sunrise.

The eco-friendly resort generates a large portion of it’s power from the solar panels installed at the jetty to the island which generates 930 kWh of electricity.

At the official opening ceremony tonight, the largest underwater restaurant in the world 5.8 Undersea was opened by the First Lady, Fathimath Ibrahim.

The underwater restaurant designed by the company which built the first underwater restaurant in Maldives, Ithaa, at Conrad Maldives, also built the one at Huravalhi which can accommodate a maximum capacity of 24 people.

Designed by a New Zealand company and built 5.8 meters under the sea, the glass panels surrounding the restaurant offers the underwater beauty.
