Motorcycle taxi service launched with female drivers

A private company has launched a motorcycle taxi service with 20 vehicles which consists of female drivers as well.

The first motorcycle taxi service in the Maldives, Scoo-taxi has five female drivers.

Fare on a motorcycle taxi is MVR 10 per trip. The service is available by calling 775 8080.

The second motorcycle taxi service introduced today, Anua taxi is available at 955 9555. Anua has four female drivers along with 16 male drivers.

Motorcycle taxis have yellow registration boards and the drivers wearing an orange jacket.

The motorcycle taxi service was inaugurated by the Economic Minister, Mohamed Saeed at a special ceremony held at the Carnival Area today.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Saeed said that the service is intended to ease the public transportation in the crowded capital.
