Riser contracted to build waste management center in Vaadhoo

Riser Private Limited has been contracted by Ministry of Environment and Energy to build a waste management center in G. Dh. Vaadhoo.

The contract was signed in a function held this Wednesday morning at Ministry of Environment and Energy by Minister of Environment and Energy, Toriq Ibrahim and Managing Director of Riser, Ahmed Hussain.

Speaking to press after signing the contract, Minister Toriq said that through the center, Vaadhoo will be able to manage all waste produced on the island safely.

He said that Riser had been contracted to complete the MVR 1.16 million project within three months.

“This marks this year’s start to the major projects by government to safely manage waste in Maldivian islands. God willing, this will be budgeted and run on islands,” said Toriq.

Minister Toriq said similar projects were currently in progress in seven islands in G. A. Atoll and G. Dh. Atoll.

He said the government planned to start building waste management centers in all inhabited islands of G. A. Atoll and G. Dh. Atoll this year.
