Etihad schedules 4 more flights to Maldives for summer

National airline of United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways has decided to operate four additional weekly flights to Maldives over the summer this year.

Etihad announced the decision in a statement it issued to celebrate its 5-year-anniversary in Maldives last Friday, January 20.

The airline announced it will be increasing its flight operations between Abdu Dhabi and Male’ City for the summer from seven weekly flights to 11 weekly flights from July 1 to September 17.

Summer will officially begin this year on June 21.

The four additional flights are scheduled for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Etihad said it expected an extra influx of tourist arrivals to Maldives during summer holidays, noting the popularity of Maldives as a honeymoon destination and quality of services provided to tourists.

The airline will be using an A320 two-class aircraft for the additional flights, with 16 business class seats and 120 economy class seats.

Etihad Airways stared its operations in Maldives in 2011, and has carried 450,000 passengers to Maldives over the last five years.
