“Party will have peace by following regulation regardless of the leader”

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that there would be peace inside the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) when everyone in the party follows the regulations regardless of a leader.

Speaking at a PPM membership recruitment event at Dharubaaruge tonight, President Yameen said that he wants peace within the party and it can be achieved by following the basis of democracy.

The President said that the direct of the party’s future must be sought within the regulations. And there should not be an exception within the party.

President Yameen has made the remarks at a time where the party has been split into two factions and the Police broke up the event organized by the faction of the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom to get feedback on the party’s direct from common members.

The President said that he is not happy to have the ruling party take to the streets in protest.

Expressing his love for the PPM, President Yameen said that with all the progress and development brought to the country under the party’s rule, there is no reason for anyone to join any other political party.

People from Meemu Mulak, Dhiggaru and Maduvvari joined the party at the PPM recruitment event “Maves PPM” (I’m PPM as well) tonight.
