Ooredoo Maldives has provided their 4G+ network to 100 more islands tallying up their national coverage to 75 percent.
The telecom company said that they are making progress in their mission to provide 4G+ across the country.
Speaking at a ceremony held at Laamu Fonadhoo today, the CEO of the Communications Authority of Maldives, Ilyas Ahmed said that the internet has become an important resource for the development of the country and expressed his joy and gratitude to Ooredoo Maldives for their effort to provide fast internet nation-wide facilitating every citizen.
He congratulated the staff and management of Ooredoo Maldives on their progress in strengthening their infrastructure and nation-wide coverage.
CEO of Ooredoo Maldives, Vikram Singha said that fast internet is providing numerous benefits to the people in the international communities.
He said that Ooredoo Maldives is proud to be providing 4G+ to 75 percent of the country and working to achieve full coverage along with bringing many benefits to the people.
With the new upgrade, Ooredoo 4G+ network has been extended to Baa, Lhaviyani, Kaafu, Alifu Alifu, Alifu Dhaalu, Vaavu, Meemu, Faafu, Dhaalu, Thaa, Laamu, Gaafu Alifu, Gaafu Dhaalu, Gnaviyani and Seenu atoll. The full list of islands and resorts is available at Ooredoo Maldives website.
Ooredoo said that all their customers can use a 4G+ network with the compatible SIM card and phone at the network zone without any extra charges.
Ooredoo 4G SIM cards are available at the Ooredooo Experience Centers and business partner shops and customers can check if their current SIM card is 4G compatible by send a text message “4G” to 5353.
The telecom company estimates that they can provide nation-wide 4G+ coverage at the end of the month.
