Crane falls on fishing boat

A crane fell on top of a tuna fishing boat in the Horizon Fisheries harbor area in G. Dh. Hoadedhdhoo this Tuesday, resulting in damage to the boat.

President of Hoadedhdhoo Council, Mohamed Shiraan reported to “Sun” that the boat had been waiting in the harbor due to engine failure when the crane – being used to offload cargo – fell on top of it.

Shiraan said that the boat damaged in the incident is “Miyavaali” from L. Gan.

He said that the Maldivian man operating the crane which belongs to Horizon Fisheries reported it fell down due to break system failure.

The back deck of the boat tipped down, and is now submerged under water.

No person was injured in the incident.
