Council Election scheduled for April 8

Elections Commission (EC) made the decision to hold the Local Council Election on April 8.

“Sun” has received confirmation the postponed election will be held on April 8, though the new date has not yet been officially announced by EC.

Chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Ali Niyaz announced during a press conference held this Sunday, January 8, that EC has informed political parties that the election will be held on April 8.

Niyaz also criticized EC for the delay in making an official announcement of the new date for the council election.
