Man arrested under suspicion of involvement in hiding Najeeb

An additional person has been arrested, under suspicion of being involved in hiding lawyer Najeeb’s body.

Police said that the 31 year old man was arrested at around 15:30 yesterday, because he is known to have gone to M. Masroora after Najeeb was murdered, and assisted with hiding Najeeb’s body.

Police did not reveal any further details on the suspect.

Ahmed Murrath, 29, of M. Masroora, and Fathimath Hana, 18, of Rihab, Sh. Goidhoo, have confessed to the murder of Najeeb.

Najeeb’s body was found in a large garbage can in M. Masroora. He had been bound to a chair, tortured, and stabbed in the neck.

Police said that despite the two suspects having confessed in Criminal Court, they are still investigating other aspects of the crime.

Murrath and Hana have described in detail how they murdered Najeeb, and Murrath had mentioned that he killed Najeeb because Najeeb had tried to make a sexual move on his girlfriend.

Najeeb’s eight heirs have asked for the death penalty for Najeeb’s murderers.
