MNDF begins assisting in Thinadhoo after floods

Officer of the MNDF SA has started assisting the people of Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo after the island flood from torrential rains.

A tweet send out by the MNDF this morning with pictures of water pumps used to drain the water. They are also installing sandbags to prevent water from going into the houses.

President of the Thinadhoo Island Council, Ahmed Naseer told Sun Media that the island has been experiencing torrential rains since last night. But so far no person or property has sustained any damage due to the heavy rain.

National Meteorological Center said that the rain across the country is of the Iruvai Monsoon and is expected for the next 24 hours. MET Office advises caution when travelling by sea and to ensure that all safety measures have been taken.
