Sri Lankan Airlines have advised all passengers departing from Bandaranaike International Airport to check-in five hours prior since the airport would be closed every day at specific times from 6 January 2017 to 7 April 2017 to repair the runway of the airport.
The airline said that the advisement was made in case of delays and long queues during the maintenance hours.
And the check-in counters are set to close 90 minutes before departure and so passengers are advised to check-in before that.
“It is recommended that all passengers check-in online or use the automated check-in kiosk at airport and thereafter proceed to baggage drop area.”
The airport would be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. between 6 January 2017 to 7 April 2017. That is four hours for runway repair work and four hours to dry the tarmac.
While a number of flights are being re-scheduled and some being forced to cancel since the airport operations would resume after 4:30 p.m. Flights travelling from Maldives to Sri Lanka would also be affected due to the maintenance schedule.
