Auditor General: MVR 32 million for regional airports not received

Auditor General has said that MVR 32 million has not been received by the regional airports operated by the Tourism Ministry.

According to the State Financial Regulations, the compensation for a state service, work, or sale has to be paid within one month.

The Audit Report of the Tourism Ministry 2014 released this week said that 80 percent of the money that needs to go to the regional airports have not been received which is MVR 32,258,125.

The report said that most of the money is to be paid by Island Aviation Services.

The Auditor General advised to make the payments for the state services within one month in the future and acquire the pending payments under the advisement of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.

Auditor General also raised concerns regarding the use of Microsoft Excel at the Tourism Ministry to prepare payment receipts since it can be edited by anyone at any time.
