Couple injured after hit by falling metal sheet, man in critical condition

A couple walking by the Campus street of Male’ City were left injured after getting hit by a metal sheet which fell from the second floor of a building under construction.

The incident took place at approximately 3:30 pm, this Thursday.

An eye witness reported to “Sun” that the couple were hit by a metal sheet measuring approximately eight-feet in length and four-feet in width.

The sheet hit the back of the man’s head, leaving him critically injured.

“It hit the back of the man’s head. There was two to three inches of brain tissue poking out of his skull. He had huge wounds covering his face and ears,” said the eye witness.

The eye witness reported that the woman was also severely injured, with her hand heavily swollen.

Information officer of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Ahmed Mausoom identified the man as 43-years of age. And that he was undergoing CT scans and other tests to identify the extent of his injuries.
