Renowned Maldivian movie director, Amjad Ibrahim (Amjay) was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 7th National Film Awards, held last Wednesday night.
He was handed over the award by Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Iruthisham Adam.
Amjay has been involved in the Maldivian movie industry since his teens.
His first direction, the song “Maslahathu Neih Anbin” is considered a classic.
Amjay wrote and directed his first tele drama “Maaburuge Usool” which was broadcasted by
Television Maldives in 1985, which was followed by his first feature movie “Huras”.
He made history by directing the first children’s movie produced by the Maldivian movie industry.
The products of his legacy include “Kahvalhah Dhaandhen”, “Ainbehge Loabi, Firiehge Vaajib”,
and “Udhabaani” – based on love stories.
During his acceptance speech at the National Film Awards, Amjay thanked everyone who provided him with the opportunity to work in the movie industry, as well as all the cast members of all his movies and other directions.
He thanked the State for honoring his contributions to the Maldivian movie industry via the award.
