Farhad replaced by Maniu as President of NIC

Mohamed Farhad has been removed from his position as President of National Integrity Commission (NIC), and replaced by Yoosuf Maniu Mohamed.

An official from NIC who spoke to “Sun” reported that President’s Office informed NIC of the decision to remove Farhad and replace him with Maniu this Monday, December 19.

Both Farhad and Maniu were appointed to NIC in October, 2015.

Farhad will remain a member of NIC despite being removed from his position as President.

National Integrity Act applies to four State institutions; Maldives Police Service, Department of Immigration and Emigration, Maldives Correctional Service, and Maldives Customs Service.

NIC is responsible for investigating criminal activity by law enforcement agencies and its staff. And complaints over any such unlawful activity taking place, or about to take place.
