Land for Male’ Waste Management Center officially awarded to ministry

Land needed to build the Male’ Waste Management Center in the Male’ Industrial Village under construction has been officially awarded to Ministry of Environment and Energy.

The land was awarded by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in a ceremony held at the Male’ Industrial Village this Tuesday.

Speaking during the ceremony, Minister of Environment and Energy, Toriq Ibrahim said that all waste management related work would be shifted to the Industrial Village once it was done.

“With this land, we will be able to shift all waste management work in Male’ here. It will be very well-organized once it’s done. A system will be established through which all incoming waste will be measured and weighed before it’s sent to Thilafushi,” said Toriq.

He said that the Waste Management Center would provide a solution to the problem of waste management facing the capital.
