Maumoon’s faction throws PPM forms submitted to EC into question

Faction of Leader of Progressive Party of Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has thrown into question the membership forms submitted by PPM to Elections Commission on November 13.

Secretary-General of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s faction in PPM, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel tweeted on November 13 that PPM submitted 1,800 membership forms to EC. And that it was part of the 4,000 membership forms PPM had received after President Yameen took over the running of the party.

Meanwhile, Deputy Registrar of Maumoon’s faction, Shaheedha tweeted that they had prepared 2,000 membership forms ready for submission to EC when Yameen’s faction had emptied the PPM headquarters of all materials inside. And that the office also had 3,000 membership forms that were rejected by EC.

Dr. Khaleel maintains that the party had been receiving an outpouring of membership requests since Yameen had taken over.
