A small child is in serious condition after hit by a pickup truck in Kaafu atoll Huraa.
Talking to Sun Media, the President of the Huraa Island Council, Eesa Ahmed said that a three-year-old was serious injured in the incident that took place around 5:30 p.m.
Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) also confirmed the incident to Sun Media. Media Officer of the hospital, Ahmed Mausoom said that a three-year-old was brought in to the hospital following the incident around 7:15 p.m.
The media officer said that the child was brought in to the operation theater in what is believed to be in serious condition. The details of the injuries are not clear at this time.
President of the Huraa Island Council said that it was the three-wheel pickup driven on the island. He said that the pickup dropped off some children and one of them was hanging on the side when the driver, unaware of it, drove forward dropping the child and running the child over according to witnesses.
Huraa Council President Eesa said that the child was not run over according to the driver.
