Mother abandons newborn infant in IGMH

A woman had abandoned her newborn infant after giving birth in Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Director of IGMH’s Public Relations and Media Unit, Ahmed Mausoom spoke to “Sun” this Wednesday and said that the woman, who had given birth in IGMH on October 19, had abandoned her newborn. And that the case had been reported to Ministry of Gender and Family.

The woman had given birth to a boy.

The infant is still being cared for at IGMH, but the hospital reports that his condition isn’t critical.

Mausoom said the woman had left the hospital without filling out the necessary forms, which means the hospital does not have any contact information regarding the family.
