Nameplate decorating the outer wall of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) headquarters has been removed, allegedly by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s faction.
PPM Secretary-General appointed by Maumoon’s faction, Abdul Aleem spoke to “Sun” this Sunday and said that members of Yameen’s faction had removed the nameplate, the logo, and the flag from the headquarters.
Yameen’s faction has removed all the contents from within the headquarters – which had been used by Maumoon’s faction - transporting them to Dharubaaruge where Yameen’s faction is doing its work.
Divide within PPM resulted in the formation of the two factions, with each making its own decisions.
Maumoon has publicly declared the withdrawal of his support for the government, which he had campaigned to bring to power.
