Applications open for Local Council Election

Applications for candidacy have been opened for the Local Council Election set for 14 January 2017.

Elections Commission (EC) made an announcement today saying that applications for the Council Election would open tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. and the application deadline is 3 p.m. on 15 November 2016.

Applications would be accepted from Saturday to Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. according to the Commission.

EC said that the sample of the documents required with the candidate application form would be available from the Elections Commission and the Elections Focal Points in the Atolls. And the application form can be downloaded from the website of the Elections Commission.

The Elections Commission said that the vote counting would be on 14 January 2017 at 4:30 p.m. and the official result would be announced on 23 January 2017, Monday at 2:30 p.m.
