Civil Court has announced that it will not be making any changes to its temporary ruling ordering that Meridum Service Private Limited be made sole supplier of diesel to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
The announcement comes after MPL requested with the court that it re-consider the ruling.
Meridium had filed the lawsuit against MPL claiming violation of agreement by allowing another company to supply diesel to MPL.
Civil Court issued the temporary ruling citing an agreement made between Meridium and MPL on April 17, 2016 for supply of diesel to vehicles used by MPL in its site, as well as its vessels.
Civil Court said Meridum had legal grounds to make its case, before issuing the temporary ruling.
Meanwhile, CEO of MPL, Mohamed Junaid has said the company will appeal the ruling.
“Meridium supplies the diesel to this place. The diesel is supplied for MVR 12 per liter. The current market price we got after our announcement is MVR 6.90 per liter. So this is a massive loss to the government, the State,” said Junaid in an earlier press conference.
