Ministry of Gender and Family reports that it had not yet found any sign of foul play in the death of five-month infant in State custody at Children’s Shelter in Hulhumale’.
Executive coordinator for Ministry of Gender and Family, Mohamed Shakeeb spoke to “Sun” and said that no sign of foul play had been observed in the death of the infants this Monday morning, and that immediate action would be taken if anyone was found responsible.
“There is no sign, no evidence pointing to that yet,” said Shakeeb.
The identity of the infant has been released and the authorities have refused to divulge any information regarding the medical history of the child.
Both the police and Human Rights Commission of Maldives is investigating the death.
Shakeeb said that anyone’s susceptibility in the death can only be determined after the investigation.
“Sun” has been informed that police received a complaint from Children’s Shelter at 11:14 am, this Monday, over the infant having breathing difficulties.
The infant had been dead when taken to Hulhumale’ Hospital by police in emergency.
There have been no reports of any outward injuries so far.
