Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) has inaugurated its first-ever branch, in the island of Rasdhoo, R. Atoll. The branch was named “Rasdhoo Roohu Gofi”.
Ali Arif, PPM Council Member and Member of Parliament for Vaikaradhoo Constituency, said that the branch was launched today, and that there was a special ceremony in Rasdhoo to open the branch.
“This is the first official branch of PPM. This is the beginning of a series of branches of the Party in various parts of the country. Today’s ceremony was a huge success, and was attended by a large number of people”, said Arif.
Arif also said that the branch was officially opened by Abdullah Abdul Raheem, Member of Parliament for Funadhoo Constituency, and Interim Deputy President of PPM.
PPM also reports that officials of the Party would travel to H.A., the northernmost atoll of the Maldives this week, and that new branches in the atoll would also be launched during the visit.
According to PPM, branches in the islands are being opened in preparation for Party’s National Council in September this year.
