Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has questioned the former Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Gafoor in relation to the accusations made against him in the Al-Jazeera documentary, Stealing Paradise.
Sources say that ACC questioned Adheeb on Thursday.
The Al-Jazeera documentary made numerous accusations against Adheeb and the President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
On the documentary, former footballer Mohamed Hussain (Oittey) said that large sums of US Dollars were delivered to President Yameen upon orders from Adheeb.
ACC inquiry was in relation to these deliveries according to sources. Since Adheeb’s lawyer, Moosa Siraj is not answering his phone, there has been no official word from the lawyer.
Aside from Oittey, Mohamed Allam Latheef and Ahmed Ishfah Ali explained how they used the money from the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) on the documentary.
Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali said that the accusations made against President Yameen in the documentary are false.
President of ACC, Hassan Luthfee has said that they would question those who are of interest in relation to the MMPRC corruption allegations made in the Al-Jazeera documentary.
