The agent of a tourist yacht has been fined MVR 30,000 for making an unauthorized trip to an island in Maldives.
Customs Service reported this Wednesday that the yacht in question had arrived in Maldives in February 15, and then made a trip to R. Rakeedhoo without the authorization of Customs Service.
According to Customs regulation, any sea vessel that arrives in Maldives from out of the country needs to dock at a national port, any other trip without the authorization of Customs will result in a fine of MVR 30,000.
National ports of the Maldives are Male’ Commercial Harbor, Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, Hanimaadhoo International Airport, Kulhudhuffushi Regional Harbor, Gan International Harbor and Hithadhoo Regional Harbor.
The agent will need to pay the fine within three days.
Customs has not released the name of the yacht or the agent operating it.
