H. A. Uligam Council has reported that the people of the island had been living without electricity since Monday morning, giving rise to various difficulties.
Vice President of Uligam Council, Ahmed Ziyadh Hassan spoke to “Sun” and said that the people on the island had been without electricity since 10:30 am, Monday.
He said that officials from Fenaka Corporation were working on restoring electricity to the island.
“Officials from Fenaka have been working tirelessly. But electricity hasn’t been restored to the island yet,” said Ziyadh.
He said that the power outage had been the result of damage to the sole generator which supplies the island with electricity.
“We have been informed that the power outage had been a result of damage to a part of the generator,” said Ziyadh.
He said that the power outage had resulted in huge inconvenience to the people living on the island, disrupting work of public offices.
Fenaka Corporation is unavailable for comment regarding the issue at the moment.
