Court has granted a 10-day extension to the remand for the driver of the car involved in an accident in Hulhumale’ on September 3, which led to the death of a woman – Fathimath Shiuna, 28.
Police have not identified the 22-year-old man who is being kept under arrest for the investigation into the accident, but confirmed that Criminal Court has granted them a 10-day remand extension.
The accident involves a collision between a car the 22-year-old man was driving, and a motorbike Shiuna was in the backseat of.
The man who was driving the motorbike, Mohamed Shahid – who lectures at Islamic University – was injured in the accident but later released from the hospital after treatment, while Shiuna had passed away a couple of hours after the accident without regaining consciousness.
The car had collided with the back of the motorbike.
Shiuna, who belonged to R. Rasgetheemu, had suffered severe injuries from the accident including a broken chin, back and leg.
