The comatose elderly Maldivian who fell sick on his trip to perform this year’s hajj pilgrimage passed away this Tuesday while under treatment at King Faisal Hospital in Saudi Arabia.
The man has been identified as Mohamed Thaufeeq, 67, from A. A. Ukulhas.
He had travelled to Saudi Arabia for the hajj pilgrimage under the care of Maldives Hajj Corporation.
Thaufeeq had passed away in the hospital after lying in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital for a few days, after suffering from a “shock”.
President of Ukulhas Council, Saukath Ibrahim spoke to “Sun” on Tuesday and said that Thaufeeq had been a sickly heart patient.
His death brings the Maldivian death toll from this year’s hajj pilgrimage to three.
The pilgrims are all scheduled to return back to Maldives this week.
