The local contractor – Sekurise Private Limited – which is in charge of constructing the jogging track between Tsunami Monument and Rasfannu Artificial Beach – has announced that the work will be completed within the comping 10 days’ time.
The jogging track is part of the Singaporean company - Wisteria Singapore Limited’s project.
Originally scheduled to be completed by July 26, the synthetic rubber used to cover the floor of the jogging track has come off – drawing criticism.
Project Manager of Sekurise, Hussein Ameeth said that the delay was due to the bad weather conditions facing the country, and that the synthetic rubber was coming off because it wouldn’t properly stick to the floor because of the rain.
“The glue we are using takes at least 48 hours to stick. We started the work during Ramadan.
There wasn’t enough time [for the glue to stick] as it was very raining during that time,” said Ameeth, adding that the company was now removing the synthetic rubber from problem areas
as re-sticking it on the floor using the glue.
He said that if the weather permitted it, the work ca be completed and the jogging track opened for public use within the coming 10 days.
Ameeth said that the delay had not racked up the cost of the project, but refrained from giving an exact figure.
