Home Minister Azleen Ahmed has said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed does not has the courage to return to the Maldives despite saying that he would return to the country soon.
In an interview with Sun Media today, Home Minister Azleen said that President Nasheed saying he would return are just words.
Minister Azleen said that President Nasheed is telling the international media that he would return in order to keep a group of his supporters in behind a certain line.
The Minister said that the President Nasheed’s name would not be on the ballot on the 2018 Presidential Election and as how things are, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom would win the election in a landslide.
Home Minster Azleen said that President Nasheed is scared that President Yameen is going to win.
Talking to the Indian Express following his recent visit to Sri Lanka, President Nasheed said that he would visit Sri Lanka again very soon and hope to visit the Maldives as well on that visit.
President Nasheed said that there are things he needs to do before he can return and is working on them.
